Have you ever considered that you are not here at this point in history, in your particular country by chance! That’s right! You have been pre-destined and appointed for such a time as this. Scripture clearly tells us that God has prepared good works for us to do. In other words, you were born for such a time as this!
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”
However, too many of us are holding on to hurts from our past. We’ve been deeply wounded. However, we are unwilling to let it go and give it to God so that He can heal us.
WOUNDED EAGLES
I recently read a life-changing blog post describing Christians who couldn’t let go of their past as wounded eagles. It was such a powerful image. They look like eagles but are unable to fly and move into God’s calling on their lives. Their wings are broken because they are unwilling to let go of the past.
The Apostle Paul says it so well in Philippians 3:13-14
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus”.
The only way to step into your calling and fulfil the good works God has preordained for you is to let go of the past.
You might think that nobody can understand the hurt, pain or rejection you suffered. That it’s unfair to expect that you just put it aside. That the hurt was too great, or the pain is something you can’t get over.
Romans 8:28 is a verse that can really help you here.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose”
RELEASE YOUR PAST HURTS AND PAIN
When you release your past and all its hurt and pain to God you can do so with peace. This is because we have the assurance that God never wastes pain. He will use everything you have ever suffered for your good. In particular, He will use it to shape you more and more into the image of His son.
This is the time for every child of God to rise up and step into the calling God has placed on each and every life. But you can’t do this unless you are willing to let go of your past! Your hands need to be empty so that they can reach forward to grab hold of what God has called you to.
You have been appointed and placed for such a time as this! Will you rise up, let go of your past and begin to walk in the destiny God has placed before you?
